Second Chance Initiative
Securing release, restoring dignity.
A reintegration support programme for indigent inmates in Benin City, Edo State, who remain in custody solely due to inability to pay court-imposed fines for minor, non-violent offences.
Lawful releases by December 2026
Supporting the lawful release of at least 10 indigent inmates held solely because they cannot pay court-imposed fines for minor, non-violent offences — and connecting them with trusted partners for reintegration support by the end of 2026.
Support a ReleaseOur Approach
Identify eligible inmates, pay fines, facilitate lawful release, and connect them with trusted partners for post-release support.
Our Partners
We collaborate with correctional authorities, government agencies, NGOs, faith-based organisations, corporate bodies and individuals to create real second chances.
Our Impact
Restoring families. Reducing recidivism. Building productive lives and safer communities.
Why it matters
A fine should not become a sentence.
People convicted of minor, non-violent offences are sometimes given the option of a fine. Those who can pay go home. Those who cannot stay in custody — not for what they did, but for what they could not afford.
The Second Chance Initiative closes that gap. We identify eligible cases, settle the qualifying fines, and work with correctional authorities to secure lawful release. Release alone is not enough, so we connect each person with trusted partners for reintegration support.
